Hoshino Resorts

Travel & Hospitality · Japan

The Challenge

Hoshino Resorts operates more than 70 luxury accommodations across Japan and internationally. Their Food and Drink Stations ran on a front-end Point-of-Sale system, but there was no back-end system to handle daily POS transactions at scale. Any delay in back-end response would directly delay customer payments at the point of sale. They needed a high-performance back-end built and deployed fast, without compromising on reliability or security.

What Sovablu Built

Two integrated applications were developed on Sovablu: a back-end transaction application connected directly to the POS system via API, and a back-office management application for internal operations. Master data and transaction data are both managed within Sovablu. Sovablu’s built-in authentication token system secured all connections to external systems without requiring custom security development.

Outcomes

The core system was live in one month. Transaction processing was seamlessly integrated via API. The rapid delivery gave the Hoshino Resorts team room to expand the back-office application with additional functions beyond the original scope.

Customer Feedback

“The customer was impressed by the speed of the one-month implementation. They appreciated the flawless data interface between the front-end and back-end systems. The inbuilt authentication system significantly reduced the time required for implementation.”

Major Japanese family restaurant group

Food & Beverage · Japan

The Challenge

The client is one of Japan’s largest family restaurant groups, operating major brands across more than 3,000 locations. Managing menu composition across that many locations and multiple brands meant handling recipes, allergen data, cost pricing, and approval workflows simultaneously. Each department used separate systems. Cross-team visibility was limited, workflow coordination was fragmented, and off-the-shelf packages could not accommodate the specific operational requirements of a multi-brand enterprise at this scale.

What Sovablu Built

A centralized Menu Management System of 20 screens, consolidating all menu operations into a single platform. The system integrated menu composition, recipes, allergen data, and cost pricing into one unified environment accessible across departments. Multi-level manager approval workflows were built directly into the platform. Data integration with the client’s existing systems preserved continuity and eliminated silos without requiring a full system replacement. Development was iterative, with end-user teams involved throughout so detailed business requirements were captured and delivered rapidly.

Outcomes

System silos were fully eliminated across departments. Approval workflows for menu changes were embedded directly into operations, reducing coordination overhead. The platform delivered a more modern, polished interface than the client had anticipated, with all design customization handled in-house.

53% cost savings · 20 screens delivered · 1 unified platform

Customer Feedback

“The platform delivered a modern, customizable UI well beyond our initial expectations. Being able to integrate with our existing systems while eliminating silos and iterate quickly with our own teams made Sovablu the right choice for our scale of operations.”

MEEQ

IoT & Technology · Japan

The Challenge

MEEQ is a 5G-based IoT platform supported by Japan’s three major mobile carriers: NTT DoCoMo, Softbank, and KDDI. The platform gave customers a powerful connectivity and data framework, but there was no application layer on top of it. MEEQ’s customers had no straightforward way to build software applications that made effective use of the IoT data flowing through the platform. Platform adoption was low as a result.

What Sovablu Built

A deep integration between Sovablu and the MEEQ platform. When users create tables, add data, or make any changes within MEEQ, those tables, data, and changes are automatically reflected in Sovablu in real time, without writing a single line of code. MEEQ customers can now build advanced enterprise applications directly on top of their IoT data without duplicating or manually importing anything.

Outcomes

Application development and release is now five times faster for MEEQ customers. The integration removed the gap between the data infrastructure and the application layer entirely, opening a new growth path for MEEQ’s customer acquisition.

Customer Feedback

“We are very impressed by the capabilities of Sovablu and quite excited about the positive impact that MEEQ’s collaboration with Sovablu will deliver. We expect a jump in customer acquisition.”

A global packaging manufacturing company

Manufacturing · Japan

The Challenge

This organization manufactures metal, plastic, glass, and paper containers, aerosol and general filling products, steel plates, and container manufacturing equipment at global scale. Internally, more than 200 macro-driven Excel sheets were being used to manage complex workflows across the business. The sheets were extremely difficult to maintain and enhance. Data was manually transferred to external systems, storage was local with no cloud services, file and data duplication was widespread, and there was no real-time visibility into the progress of key processes. The operational risk embedded in these workflows was significant.

What Sovablu Built

Legacy Excel forms were migrated to cloud-native Sovablu applications running in the browser. Screen designs were modernized versions of the original Excel layouts, which reduced the learning curve for existing staff. New features that were simply not achievable in Excel were implemented. Automated workflows replaced manual approval and tracking processes. Notifications for key process milestones were enabled across all stakeholders. Files moved to cloud storage connected directly to associated systems, eliminating duplication and version control issues. Data synchronization with external systems was automated end to end. The internal team was trained on Sovablu so they could build and maintain applications in-house going forward.

Outcomes

Legacy modernization and digital transformation across multiple processes and workflows was achieved simultaneously. The organization can now maintain and enhance systems internally without external dependency. Data duplication was eliminated. Real-time tracking of key process milestones replaced manual status chasing. Errors from manual intervention were massively reduced. Transaction security of files and data was enhanced across the board.

Customer Feedback

“Sovablu is easy to use and understand. We could configure workflows very quickly and with ease. Application changes can be implemented rapidly. Maintenance and updates are also much faster and easier.”
