When we put the Sovablu logo on car #128 in April, we said we were backing Team Hermanos for the full Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Japan season. This is the update we were hoping to write.
The Ferrari Challenge is one of the most respected single-marque series in the world, and the Japan championship races at the country’s best circuits, from Suzuka to Fuji. Team Hermanos competes in the Coppa Shell Am class under Rosso Scuderia, driving a Ferrari 296 Challenge, with Captain J behind the wheel.
At the fourth round at Fuji Speedway, the weather was brutal. A typhoon was moving in and the track was soaked. In those conditions, Captain J won both races. He took pole and the win on Saturday for his first class victory of the year, then went out on Sunday and won again, holding off Tak Shaw all the way to the flag. Two races, two wins, in the kind of rain that ends most people’s weekend.
The wins did not come from nowhere. J had already been leading Coppa Shell Am on points, race after race, and Fuji only widened the gap. He now goes into the final round on top of his class.
That final round is at Suzuka, on 25 and 26 July, back where the season began. One weekend, and the championship is on the line.
We are proud to be on this car. We backed Team Hermanos because they race the way we like to work, prepared and steady when conditions turn against them. Fuji showed exactly that.
